Why is it so beneficial to drink a lot of water?
Jenny Craig has encouraged me since I started the program to drink A LOT of water. They suggested I take a water bottle to work and refill it as much as possible. I admit, I was extremely resistant. I kept wondering why this had anything to do with weight loss. I thought I was only supposed to drink water when I actually felt thirsty...which wasn't very often. Not to mention, I go to the bathroom CONSTANTLY. No part of me wanted to increase my water intake and be on the toilet even more!
I discovered the more water I drank the more weight I was losing. As I understand it (and feel free to comment or explain in more detail!), water flushes your body of all the water that was sitting in your ankles, stomach, arms, etc. The body no longer thinks it has to store this water just in case it is dehydrated so it is more apt to get rid of it. If I start to feel thirsty it is my body already trying to tell me I'm beginning to become dehydrated. If the kidney's are not working correctly due to lack of water, the liver kicks in to help. If the liver is assisting the kidney's then it is not able to metabolize food nearly as well or quickly. That statement alone should have convinced you because learning this sure did persuade me! Try to make it a point to carry a water bottle with you and then you'll make sure you're getting enough water for the day.
